Frequently Asked Questions
What size tube can the Erco Bender 65CNC3V1 bend?
Up to 2-1/2″ OD × .083 wall in mild steel, 2-1/2″ × .065 wall in stainless, and pipe to 1-1/2″ Schedule 40. Heavy-wall and high-tensile materials reduce capacity — contact CML USA at 563-391-7700 with your tube size, wall, and material for a definitive answer.
What is the difference between mandrel and non-mandrel bending?
A mandrel bender supports the tube internally during the bend, preventing collapse and wrinkling on tight radii and thin walls. Non-mandrel rotary draw bending is faster to set up and fine for thicker-wall tube at larger radii.
Is tooling included?
Tooling is quoted per application — bend die, clamp die, pressure die, wiper die,and mandrel are matched to your exact tube size, wall, and radius. CML USA stocks and supports Ercolina tooling from Davenport, Iowa.
Can it store programs for repeat jobs?
Yes. Part programs are stored in the CNC control and recalled at the touch of a button, so repeat orders run without re-setup trial and error.
What tooling do I need?
Each application requires a matched set of five components: center former, clamp die, pressure die, wiper die, and mandrel. CML USA stocks standard tooling sets
for the most common sizes – round pipe from 1″ through 2″ (Schedule 5, 10, and 40), round tube from 1″ through 2-1/2″ (16, 14, and 11 gauge), and square tube from 1″ through 2″. If your material falls within those ranges, tooling ships without a long wait. For sizes outside the standard catalog, less common materials, or non-standard bend radii, tooling is manufactured to your exact specifications and quoted alongside the machine. Either way, call CML USA at 563-391-7700 with your tube OD, wall thickness, material, and centerline radius – we’ll confirm whether a standard set fits your job or quote a custom set and lead time.
What is the lead time?
Lead times vary depending on machine configuration and current factory schedule. Call CML USA at 563-391-7700 for a current estimate — we’ll also confirm tooling lead time at the same time, since tooling is built to your application and ships separately.
