030 Mandrel Tube & Pipe Bender

Mega Bender 030 with Mandrel System — 2-1/2″ Mandrel Tube & Pipe Bender

The 030 Mandrel Bender is an NC semi-automatic rotary draw mandrel tube and pipe bender built on Ercolina’s proven 030 platform — one machine that handles both standard rotary draw bending and internally supported mandrel bending to 2-1/2″ tube, with a patented hydraulic finger-style (FST) clamp system that minimizes the distance between bends. For shops where mandrel work is part of the mix but not the whole job, the 030 is the most versatile machine in the Ercolina line: bend 1-1/2″ Schedule 40 pipe in the morning, wrinkle-free thin-wall stainless in the afternoon, on the same bender – the base machine converts to accept Ercolina non-mandrel tooling.

Tables available in 5′, 10′ or 20′ lengths, standard with pneumatic material clamping and DRO positioning system. Electrical options: 220V or 480V three phase.

One Machine, Two Kinds of Bending

Most benders force a choice: a standard rotary draw machine that can’t handle thin-wall tight-radius work, or a dedicated mandrel machine that’s overkill for everyday pipe and heavy-wall tube. The 030 removes the choice. As a Mega Bender, it runs the full range of standard rotary draw tooling; with the mandrel system engaged, it produces smooth, round, full-flow bends in thin-wall stainless and aluminum — quality bends in 2-1/2″ OD stainless steel are exactly what this machine is built for. Tooling changeover between modes is straightforward, and both modes share CML USA’s tooling and support from Davenport, Iowa.

Key Features

  • Variable bending speed; programmable bend sequencing and mandrel retraction
  • Independent clamp and pressure die adjustment; micrometer wiper die adjustment
  • Secondary hydraulic pressure die stabilization system
  • Reinforced tool mounting shaft with heavy-duty swing arm for maximum rigidity
  • Quick-change tooling reduces setup time; base machine converts to accept Ercolina non-mandrel tooling
  • Tables in 5′, 10′ or 20′ lengths with pneumatic material clamping and DRO system for linear and rotational positioning
  • Bending software available for part layout guideline
  • Ideal for handrail, thin-wall mild steel, stainless steel, bend-grade aluminum and other materials

Applications for the 030 Mandrel Tube & Pipe Bender

Job shops with mixed bending work, custom automotive and exhaust fabrication, ornamental and architectural metalwork that spans pipe and thin-wall tube, maintenance and repair operations, and any shop adding mandrel capability for the first time without giving up its everyday bender.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 030 a dedicated mandrel bender?

No – and that’s its advantage. It’s a Mega Bender rotary draw machine with an added mandrel system: standard bending and mandrel bending on one machine.

When do I need the mandrel system engaged?

When the bend radius is tight relative to tube diameter or the wall is thin – typically thin-wall stainless, aluminum, or any bend where collapse or wrinkling appears without internal support.

How does the 030 compare to the TB80?

The TB80 is a dedicated mandrel machine with 3″ capacity, heavier construction(2,000+ lbs. vs. 1,600), and a 13′ table for full-length work. The 030 trades some capacity (2-1/2″) for versatility and price – it also converts to standard non-mandrel bending, and the two machines share 030 mandrel tooling. Mostly mandrel work: TB80. Mixed work: 030.

Can I add the mandrel system to a Mega Bender 030 I already own?

Which Mandrel Bender Is Right for You?

Ercolina offers four mandrel bending machines. The right one depends on your part size, volume, and how much of your work needs internal mandrel support:

Machine Capacity Operation Best for
030 Mandrel Bender 2-1/2″ tube, 1-1/2″ Sch. 40 pipe, 2″ square NC semi-automatic, multi-purpose Mixed shops: standard rotary draw bending plus mandrel capability on one machine
TB80 Mandrel Bender 3″ tube (.125 wall), 2-1/2″ Sch.10 pipe, 2-1/2″ square NC semi-automatic, dedicated mandrel Prototypes, R&D, and daily small-lot production needing mandrel-quality bends at lower investment
Erco Bender 65CNC3V1 2-1/2″ tube, 1-1/2″ Sch. 40 pipe 3-axis CNC automatic Repeatable production of parts to 2-1/2″ with stored programs and automatic cycling
Erco Bender 76CNC6V5 3″ tube, 2″ Sch.40 pipe, 2″ square tube 3-axis CNC automatic Maximum capacity in the line — production volume, larger parts, and square tube
