It has a quick-change tooling system with multiple radii available and a digital display of bend angle and bend speed. You can bend any angle up to 180° with independent material springback and speed compensation for each bend, and control the bend and return functions with the foot pedal.

To make material handling easy, the TB80 Top Bender has a swing-away counterbending die vise, and the counterbending die vise position is monitored electronically for accuracy and repeatability. It also has a heavy-duty steel gear case, right or left bend capable, and no hydraulic components for quiet operation. Plus, it is mandrel ready with an optional accessory, and a two-axis positioning table for multiple and sequential bends is available upon special request.

All capacities of the TB80 Top Bender are based on A53 grade A 48,000 psi tensile materials. However, heavy wall and high tensile materials may reduce machine capacity. Consult the supplier for material specifications.

Do You Know…

… when and why to use a mandrel?

When bending a tube, the outside wall can collapse and thin out while the inside compresses, causing issues with the final product. To minimize ovality and ensure consistent quality, a mandrel and wiper die are necessary when bending thin-walled tubes to tight radii.

Ercolina offers both NC and CNC machines designed to accommodate job shop to moderate production applications. Selecting the right machine model, tooling, and material is crucial to success in bending. When selecting tooling, consider factors such as the number of bends on the part, production rates, part tolerances, and the distance and plane of the bends. Generally, parts with several bends or higher quantity may require a CNC machine, while parts with one centerline radius are easiest to accommodate. Encourage designers to use a single bend radius whenever possible, as this can make the bending process more productive. Additionally, using the largest possible radius will help maintain the shape of the material after the bend.

For mandrel tooling applications, it’s important to provide specific information such as the size and wall thickness of the material, material type and grade, and the centerline radius of the bends. Note that bends with a radius less than 2 times the outside diameter require greater attention, high-grade bendable materials, and a heavier machine design.
