Easily bend oval profile
Ercolina’s TB60-TC Top Bender rotary draw tube bender is ideal for producing consistent quality bends in large diameter pipe, tubes, squares, rectangular, solids and other profiles and is shown in the video below bending oval profile – 1 inch x 1.75 inch, R 8.25 inch.
The TB60-TC Top Bender features bending capacities to 2-1/2 inch mild steel tube and 2 inch schedule 40 pipe with a maximum CLR of 15 inches and bending to CLR as small as 2D. Easy-to-read windows-based touchscreen control displays machine position, current status and alarm functions on one screen for greater convenience and touch screen indicates bend angle, springback and bend speed for each angle within the program. Patented swing away counter bend die vise offers easy loading and unloading of work piece, monitored electronically for greater accuracy. Automatically monitors and adjusts bending speed throughout bend cycle providing maximum torque and protecting machine components.

Tech Tips
Making the grade
Aluminum pipe and tube are produced in a multitude of grades and tempers. It is important to know the physical and mechanical characteristics of the material you wish to form. The most commonly available grade of aluminum pipe and tube is 6061-T6. This number designates it is a 6000 series grade with a temper grade (T) of 6. The temper grades range from 0-6 and increase in hardness as the numbers increase. It is possible to bend this grade on a rotary draw bender with a large radius former. However, this material will crack when attempting to produce a mandrel style bend. To achieve quality bends on aluminum material, with or without an internal mandrel, it is necessary to increase the centerline radius and change the grade of material to a minimum of 6063-T52.
The best aluminum grades for bending are 3000 or 5000 series aluminum, but they may not be readily available.
